K-12 Forest School

Forest School (to us) means: self-discovery, teamwork, dirty toes, working math problems in the sand, reading up in a tree, engaging in thoughtful dialogue, everyday adventures and exploration, asking questions, moving mountains, joyful learning, helping each other, friendship and reflection; holistic learning that is as unique as each child.

Our K-12 program is operated as a mixed-age, outdoor private school, with access to a warm shelter and simple amenities. Our skill-based curriculum is built around strategic hands-on, play and project-based learning blocks that align with Colorado’s Academic Standards, also giving kids the freedom to explore and build upon their interests. Learning outdoors helps students to become engaged, creative, critical thinkers and problem solvers who live with confidence and empathy, having a strong sense of self, and an appreciation for beauty.

Sojournings Academy runs year round, with periodic pre-scheduled breaks. We are open M-TH, 8am-5pm. The third week in August is our typical “move up” week, and the third week of May is typically our week of celebration to congratulate students on their work and accomplishments throughout the year.

Our Skill-Based Learning Blocks Include: Math, Language/Geography, Robotics/STEAM, Art, Forestry, Science, Geography, History, Gardening, Skiing, Pottery, Basketball, Climbing, Chess, Music (Guitar/Piano) and Foreign Language (Spanish/Mandarin), Keyboarding and Scratch Coding. 8 to 1 Student/Teacher Ratio. Private School Students must enroll full time. Homeschool students are welcome any day of the week!

Please note that immunizations are not required.
