About Our Teachers

At Sojournings Academy, we value and celebrate our teachers. Daily, they reach beyond themselves to truly get to know, love and serve each child individually. Our teachers take time to hear from God as they lead their classrooms with excellence, creativity and joy. Our teachers are models to follow; they lead by example; they speak with truth and encouragement on their lips; they are in-tune with the social and emotional needs of children; and they are trained to impart both academic and spiritual wisdom to our students. Our teachers are viewed as pastors and carry a heart of discipleship, knowing that teaching our kids to hear and learn from Jesus is their first priority. Amongst ourselves, we value teamwork, cooperation and communication, which enable our team to grow personally and professionally and we embark on our own journey of continuous learning.

All teachers at Sojournings Academy have been background checked, adhere to early-childhood requirements as outlined in Colorado Shines, and are certified in disaster preparedness, CPR and first aid, among others. Our teachers have also been trained in body safety as outlined in Feather Berkower’s Course, “Parenting Safe Children”.

Courtney Liu

Founder, Director & Lead Teacher

I started Sojournings as a stay-at-home mom, and I love getting to do this with my kids! You can often find me creating new things, playing with animals, singing, dancing, and dreaming about all the things I can learn and share with others.

Kirsten Springer

Lead Teacher & STEAM Coordinator

Having worked with children in a variety of environments, I truly believe that outdoor learning gives children incredible benefits. I get excited to see children learning, playing and growing with a healthy respect and appreciation for the natural world around them. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy quality time with friends, and walking my two dogs.

Justin Liu

Business Strategist & Assistant Teacher

Husband to Courtney Liu, I enjoy helping out where needed, specifically on field trips. I have been working with Courtney since the founding of Sojournings Academy in January of 2020. My passions include basketball, hiking adventures, finance, business development, and Mandarin Chinese.
